In Memory

Linda Gail Pressley (Sayles)

Canton- Linda Gail Pressley Sayles, age 78, a loving and special lady, was carried home by the angels on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Linda was born December 2, 1941 to the late Clifford Pressley and the late Coralee Greene Pressley. She was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Canton High School where she made many friendships that she treasured all throughout her life. Her working career consisted of being employed at Ghost Town in Maggie Valley, Meyer’s Grocery in Canton and Sheffield Egg Farm in Bethel. Following her formal working years she dedicated her life to her family and raising her children. Linda truly felt this was her greatest achievement in life. Mrs. Sayles was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Everyone that was blessed to know Linda will forever remember her quiet, gentle and most humble ways. She was indeed a lovely lady and always took great pride in looking her best. Linda was a talented artist and her drawings were greatly admired by everyone. She was an avid reader, especially Amish books and mysteries and she often enjoyed playing cards and mastering the card game of solitaire. A beloved wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, Linda’s sweet memory will always fill our hearts with love and carry us through each day forward. We have been blessed by her life. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her infant sister. Surviving are her devoted husband of 49 years, Richard Ellis Sayles of Canton; her children, Tina Noland (Michael) of Waynesville, Shannon Horne (Jerry) of Franklin / King, Ricki Denton (John) of Canton, and Allen Sayles (Paige) of Canton; grandchildren, Jacob Shelton (Brittany), Colby Shelton, Tyler Bradley, Brittany Bradley, Lisa Jones (Shane), Ashley Payne (Tommy), Justin Denton (Holly), Hattie Chambers, and Hank Chambers; great-grandchildren, Everett, Gabrial, Whitleigh, Sam, Lawson, and Kason; sister-in-law, Barbara Metcalf (Keith) of Elberton, GA; and her two special dogs, “Brandy” and “Tippy.”
